We have provided variety of training in District, Block and village levels for the benefits of the people. Our training included Medicinal Plant Cultivation, Training; To Schoolteachers on Environment; Panchayat member for their capacity building, SHG members on Vision Building; Leadership qualities & Income Generation Activities. Our training on Income generation activities included Packaging, Grading, Envelop mfg., jute thread making, silk rearing, Pickles preparation, Vermi Compost, Food Processing etc.
MEDICINAL FARMING TRAINING
Youth Farmers Training program of 5 States for Medicinal Plants cultivation held in Jaipur. A two-day training program was organized every month twice, Hahnemann Charitable Mission Society organized hands on training program in sunrise Organic Park, Pinjrapole.
In this program, young farmers from five states took intensive training on the cultivation of medicinal crops Satavaria, Moringa, safed Mussuli, Ashwagandha, Stevia. The convener of the training program, said that on the first day, the information about the utility of medicinal crops, advanced organic farming was given in detail.
He also told about the process of grading, storage on center and state level schemes for medicinal plant cultivation and subsidy from the bank. On the second day, young farmers from Gujarat, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttarakhand, was demonstrating a field visit to sunrise Organic Park. These young farmers were given a live demo of biological compost, compost manure. Finally, information about the availability of farming of safed mushley, moringa and tulsi were providing to all the participants after that certificate distribution ceremony was organized.
Medicinal plants play a vital role in pharmaceutical field. They are widely used in Ayurveda and are closely associated with human health. They exist in natural forests but their over extraction from natural forests, created a threat to their existence in the nature and there the only option is to grow them outside forests. The suitable and approachable area to establish them is the farm field but economic value addition for farmers is a need of today. Keeping in view, the Forest Research Institute (FRI), Dehradun conducted 5 days training from 19th to 23rd September, 2016 on “Cultivation and utilization of medicinal plants” for the farmers of Uttarakhand. The was inaugurated at Shatabdi Van Vigyan Kendra by Dr. N. S. Bisht, IFS, Dy. Director, General, Extension and Director, Internal Cooperation, Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehradun. In his inaugural address he told that there is a wide scope of medicinal plants based farming in Uttarkhand as the state is rich in basic resources required for cultivation of these valuable medicinal plants. He said that knowledge on climatic and site suitability for growing these plants should be with the farmers so that farmers may be able to grow a suitable species according to climate and site. He quoted that quality of seedlings, always counts because a good quality seedling produces a good quantity of product. He advised that there should be Self Help Groups (SHGs) at village and block levels to share the knowledge on cultivation and marketing of their produces. He also mentioned that Cooperatives if formed in rural areas may help in good marketing of produces. He suggested that cultivation of a species should be done according to the demand of market in a particular area. Besides, he told that a scientific harvesting, storage and processing technology of medicinal plants may enhance the productivity.
